Granted, things might be different across different worlds, but that seems to be the standard? Either way, plants need sunlight to survive, and plants produce oxygen as well as being a major food source.

On the other hand, if there's too much sun and not enough water, you can get droughts. Water sources drying out, crops dying, famine. Prolonged exposure to sun can also result in sunburns.
