Appearance: After her first evolution (level 30) Melaka's muscular structure has become more tight and dense than before (resulting in her having literally thick skin) and a thick, leathery natural fingerless "glove" has formed over her hand which are even tougher than that. Next Evolution at 50

Lives In: The Pokémon Habitat If Lurks is her loyal knight, then Slugger is Melaka's dutiful samurai. Encountered in the mountains and impressed into joining the team, since then Slugger has dedicated himself utterly to living up to what he sees his trainer's expectations as being. This has earned him a lasting spot as one of Melaka's main three, alongside Sneak and Lurks. A big of a boy scout, Slugger tends to hold everyone else to his standards as well, but despite this is the only one who really gets along with Brownie. Pre-4/15 Slugger is a tough little elephant which Melaka encountered during the second mission she was on to go and bonded with there. Despite not being very strong, he felt the need to try to combat the humans coming in on his territory. He bonded with Melaka after a tense situation which was resolved with a solid punch on his snout which asserted dominance. He trained under her, seeing her as someone to look up to - and now has become the first of Melaka's partners to evolve. Having taken some pride in this, Slugger now is a bit more brash, but still dedicated and to the point. He lives in the pokemon habitat, though does regularly travel with Melaka around town - albeit his new bulk makes it somewhat harder Pre-9/6 Slugger was recruited by Melaka during her second journey to the mountains, fighting the humans who he felt had come in on his territory. When Melaka soundly defeated him he became interested in joining her ragtag bunch as an understudy. Since then, no one else on Melaka's team has trained harder or pushed himself more to try to achieve the same sort of might that he sees in her. Perhaps because of this, he was the first of her team to evolve - something which he saw as a moment of personal triumph. Briefly, he became somewhat more egotistical, but as the others started to put up a better challenge to him in mock-fights, he got right back on the diligent train. Melaka relies on him as one of her strongest fighters, as well as on his ears and nose to keep track of people in the wild. Ever eager to prove himself, Slugger will tend to be the last one standing in a dire situation and the first one to step up in a less serious one. Until he evolved, he tended to follow Melaka around Union regularly, picking up items to try to impress her. Since evolving, that's stopped and he spends more time in the Habitats except when they are out of Union. The city life never appealed to him anyway, honestly. Among the rest of the team, the opinion on Slugger is split right down the center. Lurks is able to see the heart in him, and supports him quietly. Sneak is neutral towards him and Tiny of course gets along with everyone. But a lot of the newer members such as Willow, Shimmer, and Gunther all think that he's an annoying boyscout. Of special note, however, is his relationship with Brownie. Initially, it was simply that Slugger was the only one who would put up with him, but now the two are actually friends, living in the same burrow in the Habitat. Not that Brownie would ever admit it. Pre-1/28 <li>Melaka found Slugger as a Phanpy in the mountains during her second official ranger mission, as a young elephant who wanted to defend his home. When Melaka soundly defeated him, he instead dedicated himself to becoming stronger. To the date, he's the most dedicated and hard working of Melaka's team</li> <li>Slugger is serious minded, and especially after his evolution he has practiced a sort of zen to try and hone his senses to their utmost so that Melaka can rely upon him. As a result he has excellent hearing and an excellent sense of smell.</li> <li>Despite the above (or perhaps because of it) he is the only member of the team who gets along with Brownie enough for them to be called friends. Brownie and him share a living space, and when they aren't training, fighting, or out on missions, the two tend to be together a lot, especially after Slugger's evolution.</li> <li>Prior to evolving, Slugger used to regularly follow Melaka around town, fancying himself as her guard. This role's long since been replaced by Lurks, and as someone who doesn't like the city life much anyway, he's become okay with hanging out in the habitat.</li> <li>Many of the other members of Melaka's team don't specifically dislike Slugger, but a lot of them do find his self-styled "control" to be frustrating.
