...It's gotta do with Halloween? I got told it was the cold part.

[She looks at the caramel apple. And frowns]

We already talked this, Summers. No Patricks, Christ-mass, or Halloween.

Halloween's where we get the night off and all the kids run around in costumes and get candy. Win-win.

Night off? How's that?

[And she tries to hand off the caramel apple. Again. If only because she feels silly holding it now]

[ buffy takes it. happily. ]

Demons are supposed to pack it in on October thirty-first.

Oh.

I'll keep that in mind.

[Well, deeper into the apartment they go and... oh good Gates isn't right there. That's nice]

How are you finding the place? Not too, y'know, solo -- is it?

I dunno, I sorta like it. That to say I shouldn't be solo?

[But then she hears the rustling in the other room. Oh...]

Nah. I mean -- it's not my kettle-of-fish. But to each her own lonesome.

What was that?

That was prob Gates.

[And there's the sound of, yep. A lamp being smashed. Sigh]

...Gates? You've got a room-mate?

Uh.

[SHRIEK]

Sorta?

Huh. A loud cohabitor. Tell me, do the neighbours complain?

Not... yet. He's normally sorta quieter. Bet he's hungry.

[Shifting her feet.]

And from the sounds of it? I'm guessing he doesn't eat Froot Loops.

Dunno what those are.

Breakfast cereal, Mel. Colourful and delicious. Sinfully so.

Oh. He might like that. [And more rumbling. She sighs and then goes to open the door to the other room. Down the hall she goes]

[ buffy...follows. what? she's curious. ]

[Opening the door and... A MONKEY. It jumps out!!

Okay no more: Melaka isn't reacting much to Gates jumping out of the room. She actually just sort of sighs and hopes it won't make Buffy jump too much]

[ there is a tightening of the slayer's posture but no genuine jumping; she was, at least, pre-warned by the crashing and smashing. her eyes do widen, however, and she swings her sight quickly from gates to melaka. ]
