So, is this Slayer part two here, show up in some "other world?" Gotta say, this is totally toy if it is.

But hey, girl's gotta do, right? So any lurks out there, here I am. Come find me, I dare you.

[To be honest, she's not sure if she believes this is the case or not. She's just restless - to be out of Versi, to not be near Gates or Erin or her new flat with all the heritage she was just beginning to discover. To assume - or perhaps more accurately, pretend - that showing up in this weird wing-world is an extension of that whole deal.

If anyone wants an action portion instead, she's ~~wishing she had her scythe or blaster~~ hanging out around central plaza, on one of the shop roofs, watching people. At least she has on her own set of clothes by now]

Wow.

[Deadpan, but she nods all the same. It is sort of... inspiring to be with a woman like this, assuming she's not spinning her. She leans back in the booth, resting her head on something a moment and then looking back at her]

You know, two some cen for an heriloom isn't that long.

Oh, it's older than that. Way, way older. Pre-language kind of old. As old as the lineage itself, Melaka.

[ buffy sits up a little straighter. ] Made for us, but hidden.

Oh, huh.

[She wonders, idly, if Harth knew that. If Harth dreamed of it... if Buffy knows that on a level that she'll never be able to understand.

Only half a Slayer, huh.

She looks briefly concerned, briefly lost but-]

[-She recovers quick enough]

...Kind of flattering.

It's a hell of a lot more flattering than what we've been given by other ancienty, mystical sects.

[She nods. She has no idea, but she can imagine that's the case. Man, where should she go from here...? Ask about the scythe? Do something else]

...Where did you find it? In your time?

[...It might be in poor taste to say it was given to her by a demon. In due time. For now]

From a Watcher?

[ the thought rankles; however, melaka had mentioned them. it might be a valid guess. ]

N...no. Not really one of those. [A beat] From the... [...] man. The man who trained me.

[ her gaze narrows. confused, not suspicious. ] You...weren't trained by a Watcher? Not that -- not that that's bad. No one really is, now. Anymore. I mean I train the girls in my squad, now. So being Watcherless isn't such a bad bag.

[Okay, she can't talk about Urkonn. she's not sure if it's because she doesn't want this woman to know she worked with a demon, or because, ultimately, she needed to kill her dear friend. She's not sure if it's because of the pain or the shame... but.

She derails it instead]

Like I said, I only met one Watcher. She told me I was gunna be the Slayer, and said I would "cleanse the world with fire."

...Then lit himself to burn first.

Oh, God.

[ ten years on the job and she can still feel things so keenly. ]

Not the best of days.

[Especially when she had to dive into the water with him to "save" him]

...Few days even qualify as 'good', on this job.

...You shouldn't have been alone. I tried -- the idea, you see, was that no girl would have to be the only one, anymore. No more solo slaying.

...Is it wrong that I actually find that strangely comforting?

...I guess so. Still -- there's -- it's nice, I guess. I've never met another Slayer who's had to do the alone thing. And that's probably a good thing but it's nice to...be relate-able.

If we're gunna do the swapping tales thing, can we at least get a bite first?

The bar's a little more suited to a liquid diet but...but, hey? I have all the fixings for sandwiches at home and I have it on a semi-trustworthy authority that I can't mess those up too badly. If you're game.

Home cooking? [...Wow uh. she flatters a moment and then nods]

Yeah, I'm game.

Oh, I wouldn't go so far as to call it cooking. What with the it mostly just being cold things put on bread. It's not even hardly a science. But...hey, whatever slices your loaf.
