Exceptionally so. Honestly, she gives quite good conversation and has excellent taste in tea. If it weren't for the fact that she's an insufferable brat, I'd be quite fond of her.

...of course, when one is capable of summoning lightning at a whim and knives out of thin air, I suppose being a bit of a brat is excusable.

I once had the distinct pleasure of seeing her fight someone else. It was quite enlightening.

[His tone of voice hardens.]

...for all of that, of course, a standard team of droids still managed to tear a hole through her.

[...pages turning...]

Yes, it is. But certain villagers require...a bit more force, than others. Some can be dragging off with just one, some can make enough of a nuisance of themselves to require a bit more force. Some can actually destroy droids, on their own.

It depends on the target, and who's around them at the time. Rachel wasn't their target.

We have a lurk protecting her friends from the machines. When she knows they're coming.

...yes, they are. They have to be, with as often as they make raids into this village.

Well, I'm not sure if you've been in the immediate vicinity of anyone getting taken, but it does tend to cause a fuss.

The droids seem to have even a resistance to that, I'm afraid.

...Rachel wasn't the only different sort of vampire I've come across here, of course.

There was a man from a world where becoming a vampire was...sort of an infection. All you needed to do was be bitten, and in three days you'd die and return as a vampire.

Interestingly enough, it didn't apply here. Not for a while, at least. He didn't turn, and after he did, anyone he bit didn't turn up infected.

[...yes, Mel, he's speaking from experience.]

Not really. Only to be expected that it might not affect anyone outside his world. Different circumstances, situations, possibly even different evolution.

Not in the strictly scientific sense, no.

But lurks...sorry, vampires...were born from humans.

Precisely.

Evolution, of a sort. Just nothing Darwin ever thought up.
