So, is this Slayer part two here, show up in some "other world?" Gotta say, this is totally toy if it is.

But hey, girl's gotta do, right? So any lurks out there, here I am. Come find me, I dare you.

[To be honest, she's not sure if she believes this is the case or not. She's just restless - to be out of Versi, to not be near Gates or Erin or her new flat with all the heritage she was just beginning to discover. To assume - or perhaps more accurately, pretend - that showing up in this weird wing-world is an extension of that whole deal.

If anyone wants an action portion instead, she's ~~wishing she had her scythe or blaster~~ hanging out around central plaza, on one of the shop roofs, watching people. At least she has on her own set of clothes by now]

Good Spirits. You'll see a blonde by the front door and that blonde will be me and that building'll be the bar.

[Blonde, huh? That's a rarer and rarer natural hair color back on Haddyn (the joys of recessive genes) but given that she grew up with Erin, it's not that hard to identify the woman with blonde hair outside of a building. Mel jumps from the roof she's on of the next building over, lands on her feet, and then walks the distance over]

[ this is normally when she corrects someone -- please, it's buffy -- but if melaka is really a slayer then there is a whole brace of alternative considerations. and now that buffy has the chance to see the girl, she can see that she's...not very young -- not for a slayer -- but younger, certainly. and it's nigh impossible for buffy not to approach melaka like a newly located and assigned girl back home. ]

That'd be me. Which makes you Melaka. God, I can't say I ever expected to see another Slayer in these parts after...[ after faith left. ]

Well, let's just say it's a surprise.

[She says this with an even tone. It's not brash or combative, just somewhat curt and assertive. This woman is older... maybe Erin's age]

[ so that's one theory out. buffy heads into the bar, holding the door open for melaka. ]

[She feels awkward to not have her piercings - her money on her when entering a place of purchase like this. But. No money]

No, I mean...you're not dressed like you're from the past. Did you pick those things up here?

[ and that HAIR. well, now buffy's theories must be reshuffled. ] How long have you been here? How long have you been a Slayer?

[Wow question barrage. She decides to focus on the later bits]

[ the place is pretty empty so she heads for a booth. ]

[Mel just follows. In spite of being skeptical, she's also very intrigued]

[But she's not sure how much they buys all of it]

[ for one very telling moment, buffy's expression freezes. her eyes are wide, her composure lost. ]

[ she clears her throat and tries to continue coolly on: ] 'Back in the 21st'? So you're beyond it. As in the future. As in...huh. That'd be why I don't know you.

[Wait... 2005.

Yeah, guess that would be it.

[ she taps her fingers anxiously on the table-top, sitting in the booth's far corner. ]

Well. This is pickle. A weird pickle. Not necessarily a bad pickle -- I mean, the dill ones are pretty delicious.

I'm a pickle now?

[She says this with a little amused scoff. Trying to pull something of note out of this situation]

[ a deep breath. never mind what melaka is. ] You mentioned lurks, Melaka. What were you talking about?

Lurks. S'what we call "vampires" in my time. Turns out... the whole "killing all the monsters" didn't work out perfectly. Thing is, I didn't even know they were called "vampires" until I was told.

[She wonders why she's so open. Maybe it's because something feels oddly familiar about this woman]

Lurks, huh? I like it. Simple. Elegant in a dark and creepy kind of way. It fits.
